About

Hello! I am Timothy Mowson an analogue photographer based in Reading who has a specific interest in expressionism and the abstract. The photos I take are all on my own vintage cameras, the majority of which I have repaired myself. These vary from a 1902 Kodak Brownie No.2 box camera, through a 1948 Zeiss Ikon Ercona, an instant 1980s Polaroid One-Step Flash, to a 1966 Miranda Sensorex SLR.

I have a love of multiple formats of film and playing with development and printing chemistry. Most of my work is on 120 and 110 as the contrast between the size and grain can produce wildly different pictures from the same subject.

In recent years I have expanded into combining mixed media projects with photochemistry to produce more complex works. A sample of these can be found under “Projects”.

I hope you enjoy looking through my work, and if you have any questions, wish to look at non-AI-poisoned scans or prints, or talk about any potential work please feel free to contact me through the form.

All online images have been poisoned against AI, which increaes grain and may add strange patterns.

Upcoming Show

“THIS IS ALL PRIVATE” is a series of collected works from across my portfolio based on reflections within therapy on emotional labour and relationships, each piece highlighting different aspects of self or relationships within my life.
