A portfolio to take myself far too seriously

My name is Timothy Mowson, an analogue photographer with an interest in the abstract or experimental. Found in the gallery are examples of my work and a little information about some of the more meaningful projects. In my art I try to strike a balance between complex, planned projects where I experiment in style and chemistry and shooting for the joy of photography itself.

It is much more important to me that art should always evoke feeling from the viewer rather than simply depicting something. I hope those who look both take and leave a feeling with the work; they are deeply personal to me, but that does not restrict the meaning they have to you.

Every picture on this site has been run through AI poisoning programs as a precaution. This does lower the quality on the site, but original negatives, high resolution scans, and prints are available via the contact page.

“Discussion” – This was the standout entry for the Open Call for me. The theme for
the Call was “Now and then”. What I particularly loved about this image was the
questions that it asked… who is this man/these men? What are they thinking?
Where have they come from? Where are they going? What’s just happened? What is
about to happen? And what is on the other side of that door? Technically striking,
wonderful mood, and all sorts of nods and hints to the passing of time…
